Co-Founder of NEXGEN, Thilina is a purpose driven, self-directed entrepreneur and a seed investor who is determined to advance Sri Lankans livelihoods through creating opportunities for people via his critical thinking and entrepreneurial mindset. He has invested in technology companies empowering Sri Lankan IT sector entrepreneurs and also successfully operates a residential property development business in Australia.
He is the Managing Director of Eagle Japan (Pvt) Ltd, one of the islands leading importer of construction vehicles and machinery from UK, Australia & Japan.
Thilina has over seven years experience at the largest liquid natural (LNG) gas project based in Barrow Island, Western Australia. The Gorgon Project where he contributed his expertise in the field of project management & Waste Management.
Thilina followed a Bachelor of Business Degree in Business Management from Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia. Followed an Advance Diploma in Hospitality Management at Perth Institute Western Australia (PIWA). Currently, he is following his MBA at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
Gayan Co-founded NEXGEN when he was inspired by the prospects for a Sri Lankan solar energy transformation and the need for new financing solutions to make this possible. Before founding NEXGEN, Gayan was a financial consultant for Genso Power Technologies, a leading Solar Power Installer and also worked at NDB Bank PLC as a Senior Manager of Credit where he led LKR 5.00 Billion+ Credit Portfolio.
He holds Bachelor of Electronics Engineering from the University of Moratuwa who started his career with the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Institute of Germany. Gayan is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Also Certified Public Accountants of Australia (CPA).
Mr.Amarasekara completed his primary education at Ananda College, Colombo and got qualified in the National Diploma in Technology program from the Ceylon College of Technology, Katubedda, now known as University of Moratuwa.
He joined Mahaweli Development Board at the initial stage of the Mahaweli programme and was involved in its early field proceedings for well over 12 years. In joining Urban Resources Development in 1983 as a Project Coordinator he was responsible in handling some key development projects at the time. Katunayaka Free Trade Zone Infrastructure Development for Grater Colombo Economic Commission, South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe (SE-ME-WE) cable laying for Sri Lanka Telecom, Instrumental Landing System (ILS) for Airport and Aviation were a notable few.
Success on projects handled had paved the way for Mr Amarasekara to join the Finish giant Vaisala the world leader in Environmental and Industrial Measurement Instruments, as their Project Coordinator in the South African region.
Back in Sri Lanka, in 2008 he stepped in to the power generation sector and involved in a few power development projects and is the pioneer to introduce world renowned Liquid Air Energy Storage to South Asian region.
Mr. Amarasekara, counts almost 50 years of invaluable experience in project coordination and development and with his diversified expertise serves as a consulting partner in numerous investment projects.
Getting to the bottom of business challenges and creating efficiencies for all stakeholders, Tyronne has yet to meet a problem he didn’t enjoy resolving. As a Consultant and Product Manager for London Stock Exchange Group technology (formerly known as Millennium IT) he has been instrumental in improving the processes and businesses of many international financial market infrastructures. He adds his strong analytical approach and obsession with finding the perfect solution to augment the dynamic management team at NexGen Investments.
Tyronne possesses both a Masters as well as Bachelor’s degrees from the London School of Economics where his primary focus was on the area of Information Systems with a healthy dose of organizational study and the social sciences thrown in. He also holds a Bachelors in Computer Science from the University of Colombo, and has completed all levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst examinations.
When not engaged in learning new domains or solving corporate issues, he occupies himself with the much bigger challenge of understanding and raising two highly independent minded daughters.
